"The major corporations I represent and defend impact the everyday lives of Louisianians. By safeguarding their rights to do business in our state and beyond, I take pride in ensuring their vested interest in and future investment into our state."

Aaron Ruffin is a member of the firm’s key client litigation teams that vigorously defend state and federal court casualty and mass tort claims and environmental litigation primarily focused on Louisiana’s robust energy industry. Among the clients Aaron defends are major domestic and global corporations that significantly contribute to and have a direct impact on Louisiana's robust economy.

Aaron brings a proven track record of defending a wide range of lawsuits, ranging from individual and multi-plaintiff claims to complex toxic torts, mass torts, class actions, and multi-district litigation. He consistently supports and achieves favorable outcomes in high-stakes product liability cases, emergency and incident response matters, an array of commercial disputes, and large-scale legacy lawsuits with demands into the hundreds of millions and even billions of dollars at stake.

Aaron delivers comprehensive legal support across every phase of litigation and trial advocacy. He is dedicated to developing defense strategies that are effective throughout the entire life cycle of the litigation claim. His approach to problem-solving and overcoming the many roadblocks to progress inherent in these claims requires his total focus on case facts and applied legal theory. He thrives in challenging situations and in effectively engaging with difficult or even hostile opposing counsel.

Clients and colleagues alike appreciate Aaron’s deliberate, practical, and effective case analysis and bigger-picture defense strategies. He continuously delivers targeted solutions that streamline legal and procedural challenges. Aaron also excels in identifying and leveraging the often distinct and most persuasive legal talking points associated with every case in which he is involved. Moreover, he understands the impact protracted, high-pressure, and no-room-for-error litigation will have on his client's reputation and product. As a result, Aaron seeks to identify early-on resolutions for such lawsuits aimed at mitigating adverse public relations problems across the region.

Aaron brings an interesting and diverse background to his legal practice today. Prior to private practice, he worked in the legal offices of the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General Corps. In addition, Aaron also clerked for the Honorable Dontae L. Bugg of the Fairfax County Circuit Court, as well as interned for Urban One and the Atlanta Legal Aid Society.

A past member of the varsity football team at his alma mater, Brown University, Aaron brings his competitive instincts to bear when defending clients today. He views major litigation as a high-stakes chess match when strategizing against opposing counsel – a comparison to the intense standoff inherent in sports competition in general.

Aaron brings a deep bench of honed skills to researching and analyzing cases where the facts can be complicated, disparate, and/or unclear. Because he bases every legal decision and defense strategy on finding out what really happened, Aaron goes the distance not only to convince himself so completely of the facts and path forward but also to convince everyone around him that his assessment is accurate and grounded in sound legal theory and case facts… because it is. This is the type of focus and visualization that stems from being both an elite athlete and a high-achieving academic.

As a Louisiana native, Aaron grew up in a family with multiple members employed in various energy plants. As a result, it is no surprise Aaron has chosen family continuity by serving as a defense attorney specifically for the energy sector. In addition to his unrelenting passion for service, community, and the law, Aaron remains a lifelong and die-hard Saints fan and active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
