Trippe Hawthorne Selected for 2008 40 Under 40 Awards

About Trippe Hawthorne:Trippe Hawthorne is a partner in the Baton Rouge office and practices in the litigation and construction law groups. He has experience in a wide variety of commercial litigation, construction law, and general litigation matters, including business associations, political subdivisions and local government, attorney’s fees litigation, False Claims Act, class action litigation, and redhibition claims. He has been involved in over 10 reported cases. Trippe has assisted numerous Louisiana contractors, construction companies, and other businesses in connection with contract interpretation, including drawings, specifications, change orders and back charges, lien rights and remedies, contract disputes and litigation. In addition, he has substantial experience in the Private Works Act, the Public Works Act and the Miller Act. He assists construction industry clients with issues involving performance and payment, bid and retainage bond rights, liability and responsibility.
Before going into private practice, Trippe served as a Law Clerk to Judge John V. Parker, United States District Court, Middle District of Louisiana. He was admitted to practice in Louisiana in 1995 and is admitted to practice before the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal, the U.S. Court of Claims, and the U.S. District Courts for the Middle, Western, and Eastern Districts of Louisiana. Trippe is a member of the Louisiana State, American, and Baton Rouge Bar Associations, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, and the Americans Inns of Court.
Trippe earned his law degree from the LSU Law Center in 1995 where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and Phi Kappa Phi and is a member of the LSU Law Center Hall of Fame. He has obtained a BV-rating by the Martindale Hubbell Legal Directory.
Service to the Community: Trippe was awarded the 2007 Edward D. Grant Volunteerism Award by the YMCA of the Capital Region on May 7, 2008. He is heavily involved is the YMCA of the Capital Region and served as Chairman of the Strong Kids Campaign for the A.C. Lewis Branch of the YMCA and Co-Chaired the Program Committee. An avid runner, Trippe spearheaded the development of
Rouge Runners, a series of short road and track races to encourage children of all ages to become more active. He currently serves as the President of the Board of Advisors for the A.C. Lewis YMCA. He has also contributed to the Baton Rouge community through his work to provide ministry and human services to the homeless through the YMCA and his church. He is a member of the National Leadership Board of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes sports specific ministry, FCA-Endurance. Trippe also serves as a reading friend at Highland Elementary and has served as a deacon at University Baptist Church. He sings in the University Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir, Grace Rising Ensemble, and Men's Celebration Quartet.
