"The law is supposed to be clear and objective. Family discourse, and disputes over estates and trusts are not. I bring clients the legal know-how and empathy to get them through the emotional burden of litigation and to a favorable resolution on the other side."

Colin Norman focuses his practice on contested probate, trust and guardianship matters, and estate administration and planning. He is dedicated to realizing the right result for even the most complicated and/or contentious estate, trust, and guardianship controversies, contests, and related litigation claims. Among Colin’s clients are families and individuals, including beneficiaries, personal representatives, executors, and trustees, as well as corporate trustees, guardians, and charitable organizations.

Colin guides clients through probate and administration of wills and trusts, navigating trustees, executors, and beneficiaries through the interpretation of document provisions and implementation, including the preparation of related accountings and estate inventories. In the event a dispute arises, on attack or defense, Colin is a smart and proven advocate who will resolve the dispute in court or out, including mediation and arbitration. His litigation experience is broad and includes resolving lawsuits pertaining to breach of fiduciary duty, conversion, fraud and related claims, interpretation disputes and declaratory actions, will/trust/guardianship contests, and real property disputes.

Colin consistently delivers the legal acuity and practical problem-solving skills to successfully manage and leverage the opportunities presented by what are frequently emotionally charged lawsuits. With cases that are valued in the millions to hundreds of millions of dollars, Colin is appreciated for serving as both a formidable advocate and compassionate counselor who is fluent in state and federal estate law and well-informed about the tendencies of Texas judges.

Effective communication and a steadfast focus on resolution, as opposed to continued acrimony, are at the center of Colin’s commitment to everyone he serves. He believes in providing legal services that are cost-effective, assuaging the emotional elements inherent in what are typically family versus family fights, and creating viable plans of action that result in peace of mind and closure for his clients.

After law school, Colin began a financial advisory practice, helping individuals and families with asset protection and financial planning. He maintains his Series 66 accreditation and also held a Series 7 license. These earned skills showcase Colin’s knowledge of securities and financial planning, bolstering his credibility and reputation as a legal advisor and ability to navigate disputes involving all types of tangible and non-tangible assets. He brings this higher level of education to designing tactical litigation and dispute resolution strategy that incorporates all the many “moving parts” inherent in this complex area of the law.
