Karen Morgan is senior counsel in the Houston office of Kean Miller. She joined the firm in 2024 and practices in the labor and employment law, commercial litigation, casualty litigation, and probate groups.

Karen has more than 30 years of civil litigation experience. She practices in state and federal courts representing both plaintiffs and defendants and focuses on employment, unfair competition, and securities litigation. Karen represents clients in discrimination, covenants not to compete, trade secret, FLSA, breach of contract, and wrongful termination cases. She conducts employment investigations and routinely handles race discrimination, sexual harassment, FMLA, ADA, and retaliation suits.

Karen provides individualized strategic legal advice to financial advisors and broker dealers in the financial services industry, including transition assistance and advice relating to contracts and agreements, and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority inquiries. Karen’s securities practice includes representing brokerage firms in recruiting actions before FINRA.

Karen’s practice also includes representation of individuals in probate and contest of wills.

Prior to joining Kean Miller, Karen practiced in state and federal courts representing both plaintiffs and defendants and focuses on disputes arising out of upstream oil and gas activities including well blowouts, environmental incidents, commercial disputes, and tort claims. She also handled insurance coverage matters involving domestic and international policies as well as indemnity claims under oilfield services agreements.

  • Key member of team representing company specializing in production infrastructure in breach of contract and force majeure case.
  • Representation of telecommunications company in personal injury matters.
  • Representation of retail brokerage firm and registered representatives in investigations, litigation, and arbitration before FINRA, including breach of fiduciary duty, non-solicitation, tortious interference and non-compete cases.
  • Participated in obtaining temporary restraining orders and injunctions on behalf of retail brokerage firms.
  • Represent securities brokerage firms and financial advisors in matters relating to interpretation of confidential information, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements under various states' laws.
  • Represented international drilling company in investigation of employment related theft.
  • Represented franchise restaurant in FLSA and fraud matter.
  • Representation of individuals in contest of wills.
  • Negotiate Settlement & Distribution Agreements in probate matters.
