"I enjoy helping individuals, families, and businesses plan for the future by advising them on a range of matters – from straightforward estate planning for individuals and young families to more complex tax and estate planning involved in transferring significant wealth between generations in the most efficient manner possible."

Estate, wealth, and business planning attorney and trusted advisor, Kevin Curry, guides individuals, families, and privately held and family businesses through all aspects of estate and business succession planning, federal gift and estate tax planning, probate, and nonprofit law and administration. He advises on federal income tax issues applicable to partnerships, limited liability companies, and corporations – particularly those dealing with sales or transfers of such businesses within the family as part of a succession plan. Kevin is appreciated by everyone around him for his problem-solving skills and comprehensive solutions that address and integrate business succession, personal estate planning, and charitable giving into a streamlined course of action that results in the right end game for his clients.

As a consistently honored attorney in legal and business publications and Board Certified Specialist in both Tax Law and Estate Planning and Administration certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization, Kevin designs tax-efficient estate and wealth management solutions, such as intentionally defective grantor trusts, generation-skipping trusts, grantor-retained annuity trusts, and charitable remainder trusts, among other examples. He brings decades of experience and a deep understanding of the legal principles, regulations, and complexities that impact safeguarding all facets of multi-generational planning.

In addition, Kevin helps plan for the longevity of family-owned companies, implements generational transition plans, and ensures business objectives align with each client’s personal goals. He advises on all types of business exit and succession planning initiatives, including federal income tax issues related to the sale of businesses to third parties and intra-family transfer structures such as recapitalizing closely held corporations to allow the transfer of ownership without losing control, the use of family limited partnership/limited liability companies, and buy/sell agreements. He also assists with estate and trust administration, guiding executors, trustees, and other fiduciaries through the probate process, advising on and/or managing estate tax returns, and mitigating potential beneficiary disputes along the way.

As a complement to his estate, wealth, and business planning acumen, Kevin structures not-for-profit and tax-advantaged entities of all kinds, including 501(c)(3) and other charitable structures and foundations to accomplish the charitable goals of clients. Additionally, he advises on the tax implications of gifts and gifting and counsels trustees and boards of directors of non-profit organizations on a variety of federal tax issues applicable to them.

Kevin’s attention to detail, work product, and communication skills are consistently outstanding and result in his clients fully grasping the implications of their decisions and feeling a sense of control over the future of their hard-earned assets. Moreover, Kevin has honed his analytical acumen to where he can effectively break down complex situations into actionable solutions grounded in sound legal theory. He proves, time and again, his ability to identify/anticipate potential issues and/or conflicts and devise innovative solutions that are as unique as the clients he represents.
