Kevin C. Ellis
AssociateKevin Ellis is an associate in the Lafayette office of Kean Miller. He joined the firm in 2024 and practices in the offshore energy and marine litigation group. Kevin has experience in a wide range of areas including complex litigation, commercial litigation, and professional liability litigation, including litigation involving attorney malpractice, accountant malpractice, architect and engineer malpractice, insurance agent malpractice, real estate malpractice, and ethical complaints against lawyers and judges.
Prior to private practice, Kevin served as a governmental extern for the Louisiana Department of Justice Civil Rights Litigation Division and as a judicial extern to the Honorable Shelley D. Dick of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana. Prior to law school, Kevin was an oil and gas landman where he specialized in title research and abstracting on projects across several states.
Kevin earned his J.D./D.C.L., magna cum laude, and Energy Law and Policy Graduate Certificate from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2019. He earned his B.A. in International Studies and Minor in History from Louisiana State University in 2010. While in law school, Kevin served as an Academic Tutor to Professor Margaret Thomas for Federal Civil Procedure I. He received CALI Awards for the highest grade in Criminal Law, International Tax Law, Mineral Rights, Intro to Environmental Law, Administrative and Environmental Law Policy Seminar, Energy Law and Regulation, and Natural Resources Law. Kevin was a participant in the LSU Law Transactional Competition on transactional drafting and negotiation.
