Monica Manzella, CIPP/US, is a resourceful problem solver and legal strategist with more than 19 years of legal experience. She has extensive transactional, policy, and litigation experience in corporate and commercial law, contract law, healthcare, data privacy, cybersecurity, technology, energy, governmental standards of conduct and ethics law, acquisition and procurement law, construction law, labor and employment law, and personal injury, casualty, and insurance law. She also has extensive policy and compliance experience and strategic planning acumen, particularly in the healthcare, data privacy, cybersecurity, and startup business arenas.
Monica is an ANSI-accredited Certified Information Privacy Professional for the U.S. Private Sector (CIPP/US), designated by the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Monica practiced in private practice since 2005, primarily in the commercial litigation arena. She joined the City of New Orleans Law Department in 2014, developing her transactional practice in support of the information technology and public safety departments. After earning her Master’s Degree in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, she joined the inaugural Chief Security Officer Organization at Entergy as a Senior Security Policy Coordinator where she helped develop Entergy’s cybersecurity and data privacy policy framework. In 2018, Monica joined local healthcare startup, Ready Responders, as its Senior Vice-President of Legal and Compliance and its HIPAA Privacy and Security Officer. In 2021, Monica returned to private practice, focusing her practice on supporting both local and regional emerging and established companies in their compliance efforts relative to data privacy and cybersecurity, both in the healthcare and general corporate arenas. In addition to her extensive transaction and litigation experience, Monica brings over 10 years of focused data privacy, cybersecurity, corporate, and healthcare experience to Kean Miller.
