Senior Counsel

"Because e-discovery can result in a high risk of inefficiency and legal noncompliance, I believe in positioning my client’s electronic and other data as an advantage rather than a liability. By employing proven discovery management workflows and cutting-edge technologies, we offer the potential to mitigate regulatory and litigation risk, simplify the discovery process, and mine and leverage data to mount the most veritable defense imaginable."

Patrick Roquemore is among the firm’s go-to litigators for large-scale claims involving extensive e-discovery strategy and ongoing litigation management of complex, multi-state, multi-district Louisiana state and federal court litigation. His focus includes high-stakes and often protracted energy industry disputes involving major oil, gas, pipeline, and legacy lawsuits, product liability defense, and expropriation, land use, and wetlands loss claims.

Patrick brings proven skill to all aspects of legal research, including the drafting of opinions and jury instructions, and participating and assisting in preparation for trial in Louisiana courts. He is experienced in establishing and streamlining data systems and e-discovery best practices that ensure management protocols across all types of data and other information management protocols – finding even the most seemingly small details that can make the difference in assigning blame and lessening punitive damage demands and awards.

Patrick serves as e-discovery counsel for clients involved in national litigation involving myriad law firms and defense constituents. He has successfully advised on e-discovery for claims ranging in size and complexity from multiple terabytes of data to only a few thousand documents. From the beginning of a case through trial and on appeal, Patrick works with trial counsel and in-house legal teams to determine the litigation landscape and desired strategy for the case at hand, ably coordinating the many moving parts involved in MDLs, investigations, and parallel state court litigation across multiple jurisdictions.

He delivers tactical solutions to problem-solving that incorporate mechanical and actionable next steps for information preservation, offensive discovery, and forensic and other data collection initiatives. He advises on discovery-related motion practice and identifies the potential weaknesses of plaintiff arguments while organizing, coordinating, and mining extensive information, multiples of data sets, and even the most comprehensive exhibit lists.

From targeted collection and collaborative ECA and data reduction to the use of sophisticated content analytics, predictive coding, and AI, Patrick believes in reducing client time and cost investment without compromising their end game. Patrick’s commitment to scaling e-discovery up and down as needed results in optimized systems and economically appropriate solutions achieved through best-in-class litigation technology that can capitalize on and create synergy among the benefits of all involved applications.

Prior to joining Kean Miller, Patrick was a Judicial Law Clerk for the Twenty-third Judicial District Court for the Parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James. He also served as an attorney for the Louisiana Court of Appeal, First Circuit (Criminal Division). In these positions, Patrick learned how the law is applied in the courtroom through first-hand experience observing what resonates with judges and synthesizing the distinct differences between effective versus poor litigation tactics.

Having majored in accounting as an undergrad, Patrick went to work for a CPA firm after graduate school, where he honed his financial and analytical skills and ability to understand accounting systems and data – another value add to his e-discovery practice today.
