Recruiting and Professional Development Manager – Baton Rouge

Kean Miller is seeking a Recruiting & Professional Development Manager to assist firm leadership in recruiting all positions as well as the coordination of attorney coaching and development.

Responsibilities:
Attorney Development: 
• Implements and manages in-house Professional Development programs to meet the Firm's objectives and foster professional growth and retention, collaborating with: 
- Practice Group Leaders on the development of Attorneys' substantive skills and subject matter expertise
- Professional Development Committee on professional skills
- Diversity & Inclusion Committee and our Women's Initiative Group to provide support and assist on the Firm's many diversity initiatives.
• Measure and assess Attorney training, curriculum and development programs for relevancy and impact. Sustain, modify, or replace Attorney Development programs as appropriate based on current and future needs, consistent with the Firm’s strategic objectives.
• Maintain and nurture existing and potential relationships with external consultants, coaches, and speakers, as well as maintain active involvement with appropriate professional organizations, including the Professional Development Consortium.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of trends and developments in the talent development field both within and outside legal industry.
• Collaborate with Business Development team to support all training programs.
• Partner with and form strong trusted advisor relationships with Firm Management, Practice Group Leaders and other attorneys to identify training and program needs and determine appropriate means to deliver and assess the success of related programs.
• Assess e-Learning opportunities and build e-Learning programs based on attorney development need.
• Assists with logistics for attorney training programs, including invitations, tracking RSVPs and follow up efforts, creating and distributing sign-in sheets and materials, creating name badges, and coordinating with Facilities as needed.
• Providing ongoing support for individual associates in their development and acting as a liaison with various committees and departments, as needed. This will include assisting Associates in developing a plan to implement feedback they receive through the Firm’s Associate Evaluation Committee (AEC) process, in coordination with the Professional Development Committee (PDC) and the Firm’s Practice Group Leader.
• Maintain the Firm’s calendar for all Professional Development Training initiatives, as well as the database for materials, recordings of internal sessions held, agendas, participants, speakers and conduct post-surveys for feedback on sessions held.
• Direct the continued evolution and delivery of Kean Miller programs, ensuring that the programming and content each year reflects the continued evolution of the Firm and legal talent.
• Manage and oversee training and development budgeting process and expenditures.

Recruiting: 
• Responsible for creating job posts, developing plans to recruit, search for talent, screen applicants, conduct interviews, and debrief the CHRO on the best candidates.
• Manage job postings across job sites both internally and externally while work directly with hiring managers to qualify hiring needs’ specifics, develop recruiting strategies and provide managers with consultative insight into local market.
• Maintains a thorough understanding of all Firm positions and establish strategic partnerships with Firm management, Partners, and department leaders to understand position, needs and to effectively design recruitment strategies.
• Coordinate travel logistics for interviewees consisting of flights, hotel, and relocation information.
• Requests timely feedback from hiring managers and coordinates post-interview debrief meetings with candidates.
• Identify opportunities to improve candidate experience and scheduling efficiency.
• Provide follow-up correspondence to candidates, on recruiting status via phone and email to deliver a remarkable candidate experience.
• Monitor industry trends, including compensation, offer structures, and market demand, to ensure the Firm remains competitive.
• Enhance the Firm's reputation as an employer of choice by collaborating with legal associations, law schools and professional organizations to increase visibility and promote the Firm as a top employer in key talent pools.
• In collaboration with the HR Team, design and optimize a best-in-class candidate journey from initial engagement through to onboarding, ensuring that every touchpoint reflects the culture of Kean Miller and fosters an extraordinary experience.
• Compiling relevant statistical information related to Attorney recruiting, diversity, retention, and development.
• Identifying innovative strategies to enhance ongoing Associate recruitment and retention efforts.
• Analyze internal and external recruitment data to identify trends, forecast hiring needs, and provide strategic insights to Firm leadership.

Mentoring:
• Oversee and enhance the Firm’s mentor and advisor programs in collaboration with Partners, Practice Group Leaders, Recruiting and Diversity Teams.
• Checking in regularly with Mentors and Mentees to ensure program success.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree required
• 10+ years in a professional services setting

• An unquestioned work ethic, willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and accept a wide variety of assignments as required and work closely with Associates, Partners, Practice Group Leaders, HR colleagues and Firm management.
• Experience and knowledge of Attorney Professional Development, including core competencies, learning concepts, program design and Attorney career progression.
• Strong interest in training and Professional Development and a demonstrated track record designing and implementing Professional Development Programs.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality work while maintaining a service focus mentality.
• Must have strong written and oral communication skills, proven experience at diplomacy and effective listening skills, and ability to inspire confidence of Attorneys and staff at all levels.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills, and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work well both independently and with a team.
• Highly motivated, initiative-taker that demonstrates ownership, commitment to the job, initiative, and strong work ethic.
• Proven collaboration skills and ability to build strong relationships across Attorney populations and staff professionals.

• The ability to maintain confidentiality and always exercise a high standard of discretion.
• Travel to other offices and law schools as well as travel to conferences to further enrich personal development.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
